I am not familiar with the hotel itself. However, it's towards the eastern end of the city centre, which is very well provided with restaurants, shops, theatres, etc. I consider it to be a good location.

In Sydney, by "Ols Sydney Inn" I presume you mean the Old Sydney Holiday Inn in the Rocks (55 George St)? You won't be disappointed with the location, which is one of the two or three best spots in Sydney. The hotel is only about five or six storeys tall, so there's not much chance of a view, but step outside and Sydney is at your feet. Hope you get a good rate there -- one poster to this forum got a room there once for $AUD165, which was great value. If they won't give you a good rate, there are several nearby hotels to choose from which might suit you as well: the Russell and the Lord Nelson Brewery are two that come immediately to mind.

In Adelaide I prefer to stay at Glenelg. A waterside suburb rather than the business district. It has an old tram that goes downtown.

The main hotel is the Stamford Grand. I also saw online another one called Ramada Plaza Pier Hotel though I have not stayed at that one.


Though net searches would give other options.

I stayed at the Ferntree in the Daintree and totally loved it. No TV though so be prepared to really chill out. Across the road buried in the trees is a cafe called the Dragon Fly cafe where you can sit on the verandah sipping a cocktail while you watch the activities of the turtles in their pond. Very relaxing place. Place to sit and listen to the birds. If you do need some action just around the corner is back packers place where they have a noisy bar.

Also maybe only ten mins walk is a general store that sells tours along with food supplies. Be warned though the above businesses are about all there is. Very quiet and peaceful place.

The Oasis motel in Alice Springs is not in the same league as the other accommodation that you have listed.
It is not in the best part of town and is in the moderate class of motels.

I think you would be happier with Mercure Inn Diplomat for a 3 star motel. However if you are looking for something in the 5 star category then the Crowne Plaza would be the pick. In between the two is the Lassetters Casino or the Novotel.

Cradle Mountain Lodge is fantastic. It was good a few years ago when I was there, but has recently undergone a facelift. Well worth the $$.

We had booked the cheap room at the cheap hoel, the Outback Pioneer in Ayers rock. I got it thru a service for $A170. We found out when we got there to check in that this was the bunk bed room - no TV. However, at checkin they had a special, upgrade to the better room for $A220 a night. (Regularly $345?They must've had too many open rooms.)

These rooms had the fridge, air conditioning, big double bed (Queen?) TV, full bath... just like real hotel rooms.
