Christmas Day lunch or Dinner in Sydney

Hi I would like some advice where to have Christmas Dinner please, Iam a vegetarian(no meat or fish), my husband & son 13 are not seafood fans. We arrive 23rd Dec 2014 - 1st January staying in Sydney, Darling Harbour area.

This is our big holiday for our 25th wedding anniversary in June.

Iam worried I will not get something if I don't book soon.

Please suggest places suitable, without the seafood starters .

This will be our first time visiting Australia, we are then heading to Perth on Jan 1st for 10 days.

Thank You

Lunch, rather than dinner, seems to be the go.

Most place won't start taking bookings until about October.

Not too sure about recommendations, considering your dietary limitations. Seafood is probably the most common Christmas lunch here.

Over the years, we have tried: a couple of the big hotels - and the best we had was Sheraton on the Park, lunch cruise on one of the Captain Cook cruise ships, Sydney Rowers Club, Carrington Hotel, Katoomba.

Most of the big hotel and restaurants offer Christmas lunch. Or, for something more low-key, head to Chinatown.

Depends greatly on what you want. Make sure you let them know you need vegetarian food.

Tartan7168, is there a budget for this meal or is it a splurge meal? My recommendation is for you to have lunch at Aria Restaurant, the view is fab for a first time visitor to our beautiful city and they will easily accommodate your dining preferences.

Fwiw last year we enjoyed Xmas dinner at the Harbourview Hotel in North Sydney, booked only a few days out, and at a fraction of the cost at venues across the bridge. While there was a seafood component to the starters perhaps there may be scope to vary -

You might try a big hotel such as the Inter-Continental; here is a blurb for 2012:

I am sure 2014 would be similar.

Margo is right; our big feast is the lunch on Christmas Day but some families have the dinner as well, especially when trying to accommodate different sides of the family (our experience, anyway).
