chinese requirements for australia
 

My Chinese friend applied for a tourist visa for Australia from the shanghai office.She had a letter from me that I would sponsor her but for some reason she was refused.i think she used a form 600 is that the correct form? The whole process is a mine field which form to use I was thinking 48R then I was reading maybe 1419.
I sent a email to Shanghai embassy what the problem was but they were looking into to it. First of all she resigned from her job which I told here was stupid.
I have gathered more information for her like bank statements, incomes etc and hope that will help her . I am only talking about a tourist visa.
can anybody tell me how I should go about ths as the local IMMI Gov office was a waste of time

I'm no expert -- but f she doesn't have a job . . . AND quit her previous position so she could travel to see you, it looks really bad and she may not be able to get a visa.

Thousands and thousands of Chinese tourists come to Australia every year so the visa process can't be at all complicated. She's stuffed up somewhere and yes not having a job is silly for more reasons than one.

If she gets the visa and arrives at any airport in Australia the authorities are just as likely to put her on the next flight back home if 1) she can't prove she has sufficient funds to cover her holiday and 2) if they suspect she will need to work here to cover the cost of the holiday.

I'm no expert but from my reading she used the right form for the tourist visa but am wondering why you "sponsored " her. Usually tourist visas don't require sponsorship . Sponsorship to me means more than a tourist visa . Maybe that set off alarm bells. Sponsorship is usually for other than tourist visas .

No job - and an offer of sponsorship - probably combines to appear a big risk of overstaying.
