Check in times on domestic flights.

Hi lovely helpful people! We're travelling up the East Coast in December, and will be taking several internal flights.

Please could you let me know roughly how much time we should expect to spend at airports? Being from the UK,I have no experience of flights within the same country!

one hour before is usual. However on the "milk runs" eg: Melb - Sydyney I've arrived just 1/2 an hour pre flight.

One hour is safest though.

Happy travels

30 minutes before departure will often be adequate, but check-on queues can be long and slow at certain times of the day. I'll compromise and say 45 minutes to be on the safe side.

It really does depend on the time of day and airport. Both Virgin and Qantas say 1 hour and Virgin at least really mean it! I've found that if you're checking in at Sydney or melbourne at peak hour (7am-9am & 3pm-6pm) you need to allow much longer - particularly for Qantas who consistently have dreadful queues.

Thanks all! I had visions of valuable hours spent in terminal boredom. An hour before shouldn't hurt too much.
