cheap airfare,anyone?
I am planning a trip to Sydney for christmas this year but have not been able to find airfare under $1100. Does anyone have an idea or tip about getting cheap fare from California?

You should be able to get well under that price if you are quoting it in US$ but you may have to be a bit flexible.
Good luck getting a fare under $1100 in Australia's high season. We have had success with Discover Wholesale Travel when going to New Zealand out of LAX. I know they do Tahiti and NZ, not necessarily if they do Australia.

Try Orbitz.com. We purchased tickets on Continental/Quantas at a great price. Also, they allowed us a year to complete the flight at no additional fee because I was diagnosed with breast cancer. Travelocity makes NO exceptions.

Hi Brad,

That is the most expensive time of year to travel. I believe the very highest fares begin around December 17. If you want to give me your exact dates (and any flexibility you may have), I will see what I can do. I am a travel agent who specializes in Australia and New Zealand.

Also, let lme know if you need hotel accommodations in Sydney, sometimes they have packages and the air is less if you buy the hotel as well.

Francine

I was able to recently get flights from the East Coast to Sydney and back for $999 on Priceline.com for next summer. If you don't want to use priceline, I think Quantas is still having their 15% off fares, which were around a $1,000 for West Coast travel. I know the Quantas offer was valid until next year, but there could have been some blackout dates. I can't recall.
