cellular phones/ service in Tahiti

Going to Tahiti, Moorea, and Rangirora and would appreciate info on cell service there. International US cell company (Verizon)coverage is limited and expensive. Can you buy a throw away phone there and prepaid access card for use while on the islands? Thanks for any info you may have!

If you have an unlocked and compatible GSM phone, buying a local SIM card would be way to go, or otherwise as you say, look to buy a cheap one there - http://www.tahiti.com/english-versio...html#Telephone

and if you do not have a GSM phone and want to buy one, I'd look about for a cheap one before you go as betcha they will not be so cheap to buy there, captive customers and all.

If you want a cheapie and have time before you go, New Zealand has companies that could possibly post to a US address or just google/look ay EbAY etc.
