Caravan Parks in Oz.
 

We are a family of four our two children are age 16 and 14. We would like to stay in some caravan cabin accomodations during our three week stay in July. Have recieved a book of parks in Queensland but have question about linens. Most of the parks say that you must supply your own linens. When they state this what do they expect. What exactly are linens? Are they sheets and pillow cases, blankets. Any comments on staying in these accomodations would be appreciated. <BR><BR>We are planning on spending five days in Sydney, flying to Brisbane. Renting a car and driving to Cairns. Fly home from Cairns. Any comments.

We have stayed at several caravan parks in OZ, and some supplied blankets and pillows (no sheets or pillowcases), while others supplied only a mattress. Probably more of the latter than the former. You should also know that the word, 'caravan' in Australia usually refers to what Yanks call 'trailers' or 'trailer homes'. Most of these accommodations are either actual trailers or pre-fab metal buildings that look a lot like temporaty school or construction site buildings. Usually quite comfortable and economical, but not necessarily attractive or rustic.

you can negotiate "linen" with most of the large Caravan Parks, just write and ask them when you book. <BR>

John,<BR>Linen refers to all bedding except the mattress (sheets, pillows, pillowslips, blankets, sleeping bags whatever) also towels.<BR>We like staying in cabins in caravan parks not only because its cheaper than a motel but usually has a friendly, informal atmosphere. Some of the cabins these days have ensuite bathrooms which is nice.<BR>If you let them know you are coming from overseas, which makes bringing your own linen a bit awkward, most places will arrange it for you and charge you by the day/week. (Don't expect the linen to be top notch though.)<BR>There is a caravan park not too far from Brisbane that you might like. It has won awards and looks very nice, it's called Ashmore (or Ashmont). They have different types of cabins to suit different budgets.<BR>Kay

The caravan park the above writer is referring to is Ashmore ( Palms - I think) is 5 star and has won tourism awards because of its lay-out and facilities. They do have en suite cabins on site and do rent linen. The grounds are absolutely lovely and its like staying in a resort.

I can recommend the caravan park at Tallebudgera Creek. It is on the river so you can choose to either swim in the river or walk a few yards to the surf beach. They have good cabins overlooking the river. It is only ten minutes walk to through the Burleigh Heads National Park to shops and restaurants. <BR>There is a bus stop outside the park to get to Surfers Paradise and the larger shopping centres, plus they can arrange pick-ups for the theme parks.
