Car service for airport pick up Melbourne Tullamarine

Looking for help from people who can recommend a reliable & reasonably priced car service for pick up from Tullamarine. This may seem an odd request as we actually live in Melbourne but normally get picked up by family or friends. This time we are on our own and could just take a cab of course but wouldn't mind trying a car/limo service if one was recommended.

Not a direct answer but...

Have you thought about leaving your car at Andrew's or similar? We did for two weeks in September for about $116. They will drop you off and pick you up. Probably cheaper than a limo.

The will clean it too, for extra.

We have also taken the train into the city and the skybus from Specer Street/Southern cross. That was very good too and cheap.

Thanks PeterS, for shorter trips we tend to leave our car at the longterm carpark but this time we will have been away 5 weeks and were given a lift to the airport but don't have a family pick up arranged. We can get a cab but I thought someone may be able to recommend a service. We need to get to outer eastern suburbs so don't really want a train trip after a 24 hour transit. I'll do a search on-line and see what comes up.

We're coming to Melbourne in early February. What would a cab cost from the airport to North Carlton?

Rod Barton at Barton Limousines: http://www.bartonchauffeurs.com.au

You're a local so will know to book early for racing & tennis times.

No idea how his prices compare - haven't used anyone else for years.

Thanks Bokhara2, I'll ask Barton for a quote. Greg

My pleasure, Greg - they do an excellent job & are nice people, too.

San Diego Sue, a cab will cost you about $50.00, maybe $55.00. No need for the USA-style 10% tip - just give the cabbie the loose change.

Just for the record, I asked for quotes from Barton's and also from 1300 Pick Up, which I got from a google search. Barton quoted $140 and 1300 Pickup quoted $135 so, not knowing either firm, I went for the cheaper and was quite happy with the result. Our flight was in slightly ahead of schedule and the driver was there waiting, the car was current model Holden Statesman in excellent condition and the driver was very professional. Both firms responded very quickly by email to my initial enquiry through their web pages.

Thanks Greg - now we have 2 firms for our "Melbourne contacts" lists.
