Car hire Kakadu, Litchfield and Katharine gorge
 
We are going to drive from Darwin to Kakadu, Litchfield and Katharine Gorge for 7 days late May to June 2019.

would a sedan or a 2wd hire car be suitable or do we need a 4wd?

We've travelled in all those areas with a 2wd car as there are bitumen roads into all the tourist spots. If you want to go somewhere really off-road, look at taking a tour - the driver will know what is safe and have back-up if there is a problem.
