Cairns in 5 hours????

We have 4 hours available in Cairns. Is there anything interesting to do in Cairns in this short a time frame???

You could take the SkyRail up over the rainforest to the upland town of Kuranda, walk around a bit, then return.

Go to the Peter Lik Gallery in the main district. AMAZING photographs of Australia and the gallery itself is set up beautifully to display the photographs. A must see!

Also, take a taxi to Port Douglas. It's nearby and a quaint area to visit - palm trees line the road that runs along the beach and there are nice restaurants and shops to browse.

How about getting a taxi to Palm Cove (about 20 minutes north of the airport) for a walk along the beach and lunch at one of the restaurants overlooking the water.
Port Douglas may be too far - it's about 40/50 minutes (85 km) from Cairns.
The botanical gardens in Cairns are really nice and include a small restaurant - they are only about 5 minutes from the airport by car. There is another nice park across the road which will give you scope for a good walk before getting back on a plane.
