Brooklyn, Australia?

We heard that there is a place called Brooklyn in Australia, but can't find it on the map. Is there anything to see there? We are from Brooklyn, NY in the US and would love to go there if it's worth it. We will be visiting Sydney

Brooklyn is a little town north of Sydney, on the Hawkesbury River. It's the kick off point for the Hawkesbury River Postman, (or similar name) which is a ferry that does the rounds of the small hamlets along the river that are only accessible by boat. I understand it's a good way to explore the Hawkesbury River.

Let me assure you - it's absolutely nothing like Brooklyn, NY, but a fairly quiet village on the river. It's worth a trip, if you have more than just a few days in Sydney.

Take a train just past Brooklyn to the "Hawkesbury River" stop arriving before 9am weekdays IIRC. Take the wonderful roundtrip boattour for a few hours. Then walk around, possibly stopping at Brooklyn on return.

If you are really keen, hire a houseboat at Brooklyn and take it out overnight on the Hawkesbury.

If you want a shorter trip on the river take the Dangar Island ferry and have a coffee at the island store.Great views of the real Brooklyn from across the water.
There is even a bridge!

There is also a Melbourne suburb by that name.
Its one of the werstern suburbs and an industrial area, certainly not a tourist destination.

Mike
