Brisbane to Mt Tambourine
 

Hi,
My family and I have a spare day in Brisbane in December and I was wondering how far Mt Tambourine area would be to visit from there.
Unfortunately we don't have the time to stay overnight.
We would hire a car for the trip. Not sure about journey times.
Any advice will be gratefully received

Having said that, I would rent a car for the day as its much cheaper in the long run and you will get more for your money if there are 4 of you. The driving time from Brisbane is about 50 minutes and once here then you will be able to drive to the various places of interest and take your time to discover them. One of those places that is a "must" is the Distillery which is a private, small distillery which brews liqueur from local fruit and the owner/brewer paints the bottles so that each is a piece of art in itself. They have won International awards and its a real treat to stop in there. Then there are wineries around as well with their own wines, although there are only 3 which actually grow the grapes on site. Every second Sunday in the month is Tamborine Mountain hosts the Markets at the Showground and it is a particularly nice art, craft and food market.
There is a local tourist tram/bus which goes around the scenic spots on the mountain and will drop you off at one of the National parks for a walk and pick you up later if that is your thing. Then there is Gallery Walk which has a lot of art and craft shops together with cafes and restaurants.
On the web site it mentions ways of getting her but if you were not driving you could always get a train from Brisbane to either Coomera or Helensvale and get a taxi up the mountain but that would only be cost effective if there were 4 of you. There are many places once up here that you can either eat at ( restaurants ) or have a picnic with perhaps some local wine. One of the wineries has a jazz thing on a Sunday afternoon. From Tamborine Mountain you could do the circuit to Natural Bridge where you could take a short walk to a beautiful spring waterfall which cascades into a cave/pond and which is wonderful for a dip - nightime see the gloworms come out and it is a real treat then. There are gloworms on the mountain but not in such abundance as there is at Natural Bridge.

I hadn't considered what to do in BRB until you mentioned tambourine in another post.
