Blue Mountains - Katoomba, 2 full days or 3 days?

Driving by car, I plan to stop in Blue Mountains - Katoomba for 4 nights - 3 days. Do I realy need 3 full days or will 2 days be sufficient?

It may depend a little on your interests. Are you going to be browsing through the shops etc at Leura, or heading out for a full day of bush walking? Where are you going to stay? There are lots of really good B&B's in that area. I think that 2 full days is probably enough time. If you are interested in a nice restaurant for lunch, there is one in Leura called "The Solitary". My son and his wife had their wedding reception there last October and it was beautiful. The restaurant itself has beautiful views over the surrounding bushland.

We plan to stay at Katoomba as our central location. We are not into shops but prefer to bush walk and sight seeing.

What about 2 days Blue Mountains, 1 day Jenolan Caves (which I highly recommend, especially if the weather is bad)?

Z: A full day in the Blue Mts will allow you to see all the main attractions. I'd propose staying nights 1 and 2 in Katoomba, then making your way west to Janolan Caves, perhaps staying at the Caves House (near the caves) the next night. Basically, this gives you a day and a half in the Blue Mts proper plus time to see the caves before leaving after the 3rd night.

Janolan Caves are excellent. Dont miss the lookout at Govet's Leap in the Blue Mts...my favorite - a nice walk along the cliffs there as well.
