Best Time to Visit Australia?
What do you fodorites recommend for best time to visit Australia?
|
Generally speaking I would suggest Autumn. However depends on where in Australia you are visiting. |
I guess I should refrain my question. What month would you recommend is best? (as in Canada our Autumn is Sept/Oct.). Planning stages- haven't planned itinerary.

Well, autumn here is March-May officially, and for the southern parts of the continent that's generally a good time. But seasons as they're understood elsewhere have only limited relevance to the northern tropical regions. For instance, Darwin really only has two, the wet and the dry - the "dry" is the time to go but doesn't match anyone's idea of "winter". Far North Queensland has its own weather considerations which affect conditions on the Great Barrier Reef (dealt with in quite a few threads here which can be found by using the search facility on this forum. Do you have an idea of what parts of Australia you'd like to see?
|
Just starting to do research. Thanks for the advice. Will look into previous threads. Just starting to get some ideas.

While you do this, look at the map: NSW, VIC, TAS are not for you from May to October if you like long days, beach-weather temperatures, and lots of warm sunshine. During those months head north to QLD where they don't have daylight saving and where temps are benign even in "winter".
That's just a general truth but not the whole truth - keep researching and have fun. WK |
Anytimes a good time as you'll meet wonderful and wacky Australians at any time of year.

Hi Raz,
I guess it depends on what/where you want to do/go but I'd agree with T/Twister & Neil- April seems to be our most reliable month in terms of weather. |
