Best Restaurants in Sydney & Melbourne?
 

Please advise your recommendations for the best resaurant in Sydney and Melbourne ! <BR>Description as to quisine and price would be appreciated.

We ate at The Wharf, Hickson Road, Sydney - in the shadow of the Bridge (west side) - built in one of the old wharves, next to a theater - great views of the Harbor - good food - new australian cuisine, but not too over the top - good portions - dinner for two with a good bottle of wine was about $100AUD

In Sydney try the following. They all cost about AUD$150 for two including a bottle of wine. All are very good and all serve Mod Oz (lots of seafood / fusion options) <BR> <BR>Bathers Pavillion - Balmoral <BR>On waterfront. Great Sunday brunch. Fixed price menu. <BR> <BR>Watermark - Balmoral <BR>Also on water front. More modern (chrome and glass) Very Sydney <BR> <BR>MG Garage - Surrey Hills <BR>Quite trendy. Good bistro next door. <BR> <BR>Paramount - Potts Point <BR>As above. <BR> <BR>Bennelong - Circular Key <BR>In opera house. More traditional feel to food (and decor) Good view <BR> <BR>all great though <BR> <BR>Neil

You cannot miss Tetsuya and Forty One (great view!) in Sydney. You'll need to book very far ahead for both (less so for Forty One esp at lunch) but both excellent.

In Sydney, i would recommend Quay (passenger ferry terminal., Rocks area of Circular Quay). Not only do they have excellent service, delicious food and an impressive wine list - the view of their Opera House is stunning!

For Melbourne, I recommend a book- The Age Good Food Guide. It gives ratings, cuisine, cost estimates, maps. It's available at most bookshops and newsagents in Melbourne, or try dstore.com.au. <BR>Also if you're a foodie, try the Queen Victoria Market. Meat, fish, dairy, vegies, and clothing and bits and pieces. They have foodies tours, with tastes, and a knowlegable tourguide. I took my Mum and we had a great morning. <BR>You'll love Melbourne. <BR>

Aria - just on east circular Quay with awesome views of the Opera House and the Harbour. <BR> <BR>I've been around the world, and I've yet to come across anything that beats Australian food - I wanna go back!

Melbourne has a great deal of really good Italian restaurants. 2 worth mentioning are on the same street - George Pde. in the city (behind the Grand Hyatt). Italy 1 and Il Solito Posto. Dinner for 2 w/ wine & desert is probably about $100 AUD. Also, Brummel's Da Noi (Toorak Rd., Toorak)offers Sardinian cuisine. Slightly more expensive - approx $150 AUD for dinner for 2. All require reservations.
