Best Place to Surf in Australia
Where would you say is the best place to learn to surf in Australia? Looking for a good tour or itineray for myself and some friends to learn and see some of the country.

I'm not a surfer in any way, shape or form. But, having stayed on the beach at Surfer's Paradise (south of Brisbane) I would suggest you investigate that area. It has been a few years since I was there, but the waves seemed right, and there were surfers in the water. Have fun.

Try www.surfingaustralia.com. They have a lot of info you may find useful.

When I was at the coast north of Sydney a few years ago, I saw a mobile surfing school, surfing lessons, camping and moving from beach to beach. Sounds ideal! I can't remember any details, but can try and find it if you are interested.

During summer there is surf safari bus that leaves sydney on a monday morning and gets to Byron Bay on the friday evening.
A learn to surf safari....search for it..byron surf safaris i think. |
I would definitely suggest the outfit John_au is mentioning. You can also then hang out a bit in Byron at the end, and they have a great surfing school on the beach. Black Dog Surfing, I think. There's also decent diving up that way. You could then continue up to the Gold Coast and Sunshine Coast to do some surfing.
