Best Place to Stay on Kangaroo Island?

Looking for recommendations for a reasonably priced place to stay on Kangaroo Island in January 2011 or early February 2011 for a family of 4 adults and 2 small children.
Thanks
Sue

We enjoyed our stay at Hanson Bay. The accommodations were rustic but the location was great and very convenient to Flinders Chase NP plus they have their own sanctuary. It's on the western end of the island so if you have a late arrival or early departure, it might not work. How many nights are you staying and what time do you arrive/depart?

We could probably arrive late afternoon or early evening and stay 2 to 3 nights.

With 3 nights you might want to consider splitting your stay with 1 night near Kingscote or Penneshaw on the eastern end for the evening penguin tour. That's what we did.

We stayed at Wanderer's Rest in American River and liked it a lot. Very quiet, but pretty cool to wander the town at night and see the wallabies grazing at folks' lawns. We took a penguin tour from our hotel, took breakfast and dinner there (both good) and just relaxed after wandering about the island during the day.

If you search this board under my name from November 2009 on the topic " Kangaroo Island - 3 accomodation options " you may find it helpful.
