Best hiking & snorkling in Fiji
 

Will be staying at the Shereton in Fiji. What are some of the best beaches to go to for beauty and also snorkling. Also some great hikig trails.

The best beach on the mainland is Natadola, about 30 mins drive south from the Sheraton. It is glorious! As for hiking-it's usually too hot when we go to Fiji for hiking. Others may be able to help you here, or buy a Lonely Planet Fiji for details on villages in the highlands. Also LP's TT website is good for asking Fiji questions.

Sorry I should have said that the mainland is not all that great for snorkelling. You should get up to the Yasawas for the best snorkelling.

Some of the best hiking on Viti Levu is in the Nasouri Highlands. It would probably be best to get a guide to take you - we used Victory Inland Safaris, which contract with local guides. We took a 3-day hike, which included evenings and meals at two different Highland villages. You can also do a day hike or overnight.

'TT' stands for 'Thorn Tree' (http://thorntree.lonelyplanet.com/), and is the user forum for the Lonely Planet Web site.
