Beachcomber Hotel

Hi There - anyone stayed at the Beachcomber in Papette, Tahiti ??

Yes, In March 2000, right after it's major remodeling and just before it was renamed the Intercontinental. Nice hotel. Wonderful sand-bottomed pool once featured on the cover of Costco's travel agency booklet.

Thanks for your reply - no wonder Costco is putting us up there !

FYI - This webcam shows the view from the terrace just outside the lobby:

Note that because of a slight slope down to the water, the hotel lobby is on an upper floor. We stayed one night in a "panorama room" and one night in a "motu overwater" bungalow (actually one of the ones shown in the middle of the webcam view)*. In the distance (across the "Sea of the Moon") can be seen the island of Moorea (correctly pronounced "Mo Oh Ray Ah", not "More Ray Ah"). The pool shown in the webcam view is the main "horizon" pool, not the sand-bottomed one I mentioned.

* It was pretty cool to actually see a calandar photo of the very bungalow we stayed in at this resort. Very cool indeed!

A good hotel in Papeete. Have had 2 short stays and found the service and food etc. good and the bungalows nicely appointed.
