Bali, Fiji, Bora Bora, Maldives? Which is better?

Good afternoon

We are a married couple (both in our early 50s) planning a 7 night stay at a luxury south pacific beach resort. We are trying to determine which island/area (Bali, Fiji, Bora Bora, Maldives) offers the following highest quality experiences:

- Scenic landscapes
- Wildlife and nature interactions
- Archeological and historical sites
- Unique adventure activities (e.g. bungee jumping, elephant riding, Class III-IV whitewater rafting)
- Cultural immersion opportunities

Out of the 4 islands/areas, please let us know which island is your preferred and why (in relation to the above factors).

Thank you!
Darryl & Cathy

No elephants in Fiji or Tahiti so that rules them out!
The Maldives and Bali are in the Indian Ocean so they are out as well.
We've been to Fiji but I wouldn't rush to return there. I'd would pick Bora Bora from your list but there are no elephants.
Come to New Zealand if you want the best bungee jumping and whitewater rafting.

What does the Indian Ocean have to do with eliminating anything?

Bora Bora would be zero for historical and archaeologicl sites.

Bali is more than the beach bars and surfing. There is a lot of culture in addition to the usual things that Australians like. You an also fly to Flores and go diving, and check out the Komodo dragons.

"planning a 7 night stay at a luxury south pacific beach resort"
Taking the post literally!

I'm in the 'close enough' camp for Bali. Maybe the Maldives is a little far.

The Maldives is all about snorkeling, diving and beaches.

Plenty of luxury...

"The Maldives is all about snorkeling, diving and beaches."

But that's not all the Maldives are about: http://www.theaustralian.com.au/news...e26a72ce43b3e6.

Unless you consider a luau as immersion in Hawaiian culture, it's a bit incongruous to think you'd be immersing yourselves in any local culture while at the same time living in the lap of luxury. So I suggest you prioritize your wish list to narrow your focus even more. And you're not likely to find activities like bungee jumping and whitewater rafting on a south pacific island, so I'd encourage you to think more along the lines of swimming with sharks and feeding rays, or a 4X4 tour.

Of the islands on your list I'd probably choose Bora Bora, though it's become a bit too westernized our tastes. If luxury tops your list of priorities, you might consider something like The Brando:
