B & B's in Sydney
I am traveling to Sydney in January 2009 with my husband and brother's family. We require two rooms in a nice B & B. We are looking for comments on the Manor House and Victoria Court. We will be staying four nights as we have booked an Oceania Wine Cruise leaving Sydney on 1/7/09.

I haven't stayed at either as I live in Sydney but I can comment on the areas they are in. The Manor House is on a busy street, not far from Taylor's Square. There are some good restaurants in the vicinity (Balkan, Thai Neesa). The area is on the edge of the gay nightclub area (Oxford st), it can be a bit edgy on weekends. Main public transport is bus.
Victoria Court is on Victoria St, a beautiful fairly quiet street, although it's not far from the main red light district, Kings Cross. You can easily walk down to Wooloomooloo from there, there are also plenty of buses and the train at Kings Cross. There are lots of very good restaurants in the area (Jimmy Liks, Onde).

You might like the Chelsea Guesthouse. http://www.chelseaguesthouse.com.au/
Fodorite Lavici stayed there for a week in May and was very pleased with it. It's in a quiet street in Darlinghurst, just near Victoria Street & Darlinghurst Road. Few minutes walk to William or Oxford streets for buses to the city etc.
You can walk to the Art Gallery in 20 minutes, probably 30 mins to Elizabeth Street.
The only possible downside is that there are no telephones in the rooms, but there is a 'blue phone' and a computer for complimentary internet access.
The operators are very obliging and helpful.
I don't know anyone who has stayed at either of the other two, but would echo Susan's comments re. the Manor House's busy location. Could be noisy.

No, and neither is the Manor House or Victoria Court.
Chelsea & Victoria Court are about 20 mins walk from the Marriot. Lovely walk though, through the Botanical Gardens or Domain. Alternatively, you could take a bus or train. The Kings Cross Railway Station is just a few minutes walk from both.
You might have a look at Sydney Harbour B & B, which is in The Rocks (adjacent to Circular Quay).

If you want to stay near the Marriott and can walk up 4 flights of stairs, check out the Lord Nelson Brewery. It's comfortable and has a nice breakfast and is soooo convenient to the Quay. When we were there in October of 2007 it cost AUD$180/night for two.
