B&B Accommodation in Auckland?

We'll be spending 3 nights in Auckland next month. Anyone have some advise on good B&B's/Boutiques to stay at?

The Devonport area looks good. I saw some posts on The Garden Room and Peace & Plenty.
Any reports on that?

Any other good choices you know of?

Thanks in advance!
Pam

Depending on what you intend to do, staying in Devonport may or may not be a good idea, since it is a ferry trip or long drive to the mainland. ((R))

We enjoyed our stay at Hyland House, in Devonport
4 Flagstaff Terrace
Devonport
Auckland, New Zealand

We walked around the area, enjoyed a fabulous dinner at a hotel (don't recall the name), bought some art. Our hosts also said they could arrange to take us sailing the next time we are in town. It was only for one night (our last before flying out) but very memorable.

Devonport to Auckland is only about 10 minutes via the ferry.

A few years ago on our first trip to Auckland we stayed at the Devonport Villa Inn. It was great!! Located on a quiet street a few blocks from the water, it's run by a lovely couple that makes an absolutely wonderful breakfast! Not to mention the driver they had pick us up at the airport -- we loved him so much we hired him for our entire stay! (his name was Uncle!)

I highly recommend this B&B and a visit to Devonport!!

Pam: Devonport is lovely, and worth a visit, but I think you will find three nights a bit much, as you would be taking the ferry to and from Auckland at least three times to avail yourself of everything you want to see and do. You might consider one night in Devonport and two in Auckland at, say, The Great Ponsonby B&B in the fashionable Ponsonby district west of downtown...John

FYI-

http://www.devonport.co.nz/ftime1.htm

"Devonport Ferries Timetable
From Auckland:... catch the ferry at the Ferry Buildings, Quay St at the end of Queen St.
From Devonport:.... catch the ferry at the Devonport Wharf, only two minutes walk from the village
Trip time is approx 12 minutes and the tariff is $8.40 return. Ferries leave every 30 minutes during the day."

we stayed at the Great Ponsonby B&B and highly recommend it. The Ponsonby neighborhood is very nice w/numerous restaurants and shops w/in walking distance, the city is a quick, cheap cab ride away(we actually walked it once - 25 min.) and the owner of the B&B(Sally) was very hospitable
