Australia (Port Douglas) or New Zealand in October?
Hi!
My wife and I are planning to take 10 days off in October. We want to visit Australia (Port Douglas, great barrier reef) or New Zealand. Our decision would be largely influenced by how the weather would likely be at these places in October. Will it be raining and/or too hot in either of these places during this time?
Thanks!!

Not sure what you mean by "too hot". Port Douglas is a resort town in tropical northern Australia, October is before wet season and daily temps about 22C-30C - usually ideal reef conditions.
Really don't think it'll be "too hot" in any part of New Zealand in October, its pretty chilly there then, even in its north. What part of New Zealand are you thinking of?

Gosh big weather difference between Port Douglas & NZ for October, like the others, opt for Port Douglas. October would be fantastic in Nth Qld.
The best touring months for NZ would have to be February/March, and even then you can get cold snaps.

Thanks a lot for all your responses. We have decided to go to Australia (thanks, again!)
We have 10 days and are thinking of the following itinerary. Does this sound doable?? Any suggestions are most welcome. (We wanted to do Port Douglas and Kangaroo island and squeezed in Sydney....please do let us know if there is any better way of doing this)
- Fly into Cairns (will be flying from Singapore)
- 4 days in Port Douglas
- Fly to Sydney
- 3 days in Sydney
- fly to adelaide
- spend a couple of days in Kangaroo island
- fly back to Singapore from Adelaide
Thanks!!
