Australia itinerary

Hello I'm planning about 2 weeks in Australia some time in 2015. I'll be visiting a friend in Bunbury for a couple of days so I assume I'd fly into Perth, but I don't have to. I'd like to see Ningaloo Reef, Kakadu National Park, Ayers Rock, and Kangaroo Island. Is that even doable? I'm thinking I'd take flights between each area and then taking guided tours of each place. I do not want to rent a car. Any suggestions on a course for the trip, when to go, or the best way to book travel?

Thanks so much!

No way. You need to take a long good look at a map.

Some other things to consider:

Ningaloo is best seen between March-June when the whale sharks are there. Not a place to attempt in the hot summer months. Ningaloo is a very long way from Perth. As you don't want to rent a car, you'd need to fly from Perth to Learmonth. Flights are limited, check schedules carefully. You'd then need to arrange transport from Learmonth to either Coral Bay or Exmouth (both have access to Ningaloo). This is very remote country, lots to take into consideration.

Use google maps' "get directions" facility to gauge distances and driving times.

If you skip Ningaloo it would be easier.
Fly Perth - Adelaide (for KI), say 3 nights. Then fly Adelaide - Alice Springs - Uluru for 2 nights.
Then Uluru (maybe via AS) - Darwin (for Kakadu) 3 nights.

There will be logistic issues around flights, you might need a night in Alice Springs, Adelaide or Darwin to meet flight schedules. Or a night in all three !
I use Skyscanner to check for availability and routes.

The other issue will be the time of year. KI is very south, Kakadu very north with about 3000 kms in between, so perhaps decide when you will travel, then decide the locations. Best weather for Kakadu is May - Oct, best for KI probably Sep - Mar. You could still go to KI in the middle of winter, but it will be cold and windy.

Where are you coming from ? Most flights from the US hit the East Coast first, so perhaps you could visit KI on the way to Perth.

This is such great advice. I'll be coming from Houston,TX so will check out flight to Adelaide or maybe even Darwin. So excited. From what've you've said, sartoric, September may work for both KI and Kakadu and that's the month that will work best for my work schedule. So September it is. Now I can start planning for real :).

Thanks to all of you!
