Australia - 7 days/sep/oct/nov?

I've never been to Australia and may have 7+ days to tour in sep/oct/nov. Given duration and the timing of the trip, any recommendations on what to see? Also, assuming going in nov makes more sense than goin in sept. True?

it may help if you post what you like doing etc... and where you are coming from to gauge jetlag etc..

You would need to do some internal flights to make it work in only a week. One possibility:

Sydney
Cairns - Barrier Reef
Uluru - Kata Tjuta
Tasmania
Melbourne

This would require 4 internal flights, or 3 with a ferry.

As noted above, itinerary really depends on your interests. Do you want more of an urban or outback trip?

Thank you for feedback. I'm guessing more 'urban' vs outback but we are open to both. Given time of year we are going, should that influence us one way or the other?

With only 7 days I'd be inclined to limit yourselves to two destinations - Sydney (lots to see and do, great city) and Cairns (for Barrier Reef, rainforest etc), 3-4 days in each. Sydney's weather is less predictable in Sept (early spring) than Nov - I'll let someone who knows north Queensland better than me comment on the weather situation there.
