Hi Melnq8, Hope that you're getting settled and beginning to enjoy Colorado. Sorry that the weather out your way hasn't been nicer!

We've been enjoying a few days away from a lot of over due home projects and haven't been tuned into Fodor's. But hope
to keep in touch with your travels.

Summer is our best weather so we're hanging close to home until Sept. Wish we lived closer to the mountains!

Thank you Dot and tomarkot. I wish I could say that all is well, but unfortunately it's been a rough ride.

At least the weather has finally settled down - we spent three lovely days in Ouray in the SW corner of the state at the beginning of the week. The weather was ideal.

Best wishes to you both.

Hi Melnq8, sorry to hear that it's been rough for you in the transition. Hope frustrations/anxieties are easing as the weeks move on.

So glad that you were able to get a few days away to beautiful Ouray. We love that area. . .the impressive Million Dollar Highway drive to Silverton; the Dallas Divide en route to Telluride. We've spent our fair share of time on the back roads of the area, as well as hiking. We hope to return soon. Just too many places on our list!

We've been kind of checking the "Colorado" forum to see if you posted a little TR, but you probably have a pretty full plate with all the details of getting settled.

Wish you the best! Hope to keep in touch!

Nah, no TR, tomarkot. We spent three nights at the Box Canyon Lodge in Ouray, spent a day driving over Red Mountain Pass/Million Dollar Highway to Durango via Silverton and then back (won't be doing that again!), and spent a day exploring Telluride, Mountain Village and Ridgeway and some back roads to nowhere in particular.

Otherwise, we hiked, soaked in the hot springs and ate just about anything with green chilies. Stumbled upon a great little pizza place in Durango called Fired Up. Shared a green chili, bacon and smoked mozzarella cheese pizza. If that doesn't scream COLORADO, I don't know what does.

Saw some Big Horn Sheep, lots of chipmunks and more dandelions than I've ever seen in my life. No columbines though, too early.

There you go, a mini TR!

Glad you had a nice little Colorado get-away, Melnq8. Thanks for sharing some details of areas we really enjoy. Didn't mean to suggest that you do a TR; just wanted to keep in touch. We'll say "Farewell" on this forum and hope to keep in touch on another Fodor's thread.
