Yes - only in case my earlier post has given a false impression. George Street changes character as you move south from the harbour. But none of its parts are unsafe and all are within a 5 min walk of each other.

My dislike of cinema-land is a personal thing. I'm just not fond of clusters of fast food outlets. With teens and a 10 year old you might find them more of a drawcard than the eateries of Chinatown.

All of the properties on your list are in areas that are not communities. It's the CBD after all. And so with respect, knowing nothing AT ALL about the quality, or otherwise, of the apartments, it's all much of a muchness.

But if all prices and facilities are the same then, for me (me - not necessarily you) I'd go for World Tower because it's (a) on George street itself (ease of access to transport) and (b) the only one that is remotely part of a 'community' that functions outside business hours - ie Chinatown.

Thanks for clarifying, fuzzylogic. Actually, I believe Bathurst and Pitt is closer to transportation than George and Liverpool, aside from out of town trains. My kids really would not care about being near fast food -- they would be more likely to get excited about Chinatown. My kids are the types who would like Indian or Thai. However, your point about being closer to an actual neighborhood is interesting.

Hi Europewithkids, I live in Sydney CBD & I personally would choose to stay at World Tower as although the CBD generally does get a little less desirable the further south you go, World Square would be a more attractive area to stay in than Bathurst/Pitt IMO given the array of new shops/cafes/restaurants (plus a full size Coles supermarket which will be handy if you want to use the apartment's kitchen) in the World Square arcade underneath the apartment building which are open till late - whereas Bathurst/Pitt after hours would be a bit dead.

I also don't think bathurst/pitt would be better transport wise either given you get more intercity buses heading to Circular Quay on George St plus you'll have a monorail stop at World Square if thats of any interest. World Tower is slightly further from a train station I geuss but Museum station is still pretty close.

Given how tall it is I would think there would be much better potential for a room with a great view as well!
