Atherton Tablelands Accomm.
Looking for comments etc from anyone who may have stayed at or knows of the following properties:
Eden House Garden Cottages in Yungaburra and the Allawah Retreat and Mt. Quincan Crater Retreat near Tolga. Thinking of spending 3 or 4 nights at one location and doing little day trips to explore this region. Many Thanks. |
All three are great and are value for money.
Eden House has the advantage of being in the village and one can walk home from the restaurants. They have a good one themselves. The other two are out of town, very private, with great views. Mt Quincan even has its own tree-kangaroos so you may not need to do a nocturnal tour to see them. Allawah is in the dryer Eucalypt forest on the western edge of the Tablelands. |
We chose The Gables in Yungaburra for our October visit(although I don't know anything about it except from the website.) We decided that since we were going to be out all day and also for a nocturnal tour one day and also out touring around the other day, we didn't need to pay for "a loo with a view" or any other luxury features we weren't going to have time to use. It has a breakfast hamper which will come in handy since we are leaving for our day tour at 7 am to see those early morning birds and mammals. It is $88/night and looks quite comforable. I found them on the www.yungaburra.com/accommodation.htm I think. The places you mentioned sounded great.

Thank you for your replies. We have decided to stay at Eden House because of the convenience mentioned. It should be a good central base from which to explore the surrounding areas. |
Sally, Just had a look at the website and it is very helpful and offers a lot of good information on the Tablelands. Thanks |
And another website which gives information for Atherton Tableland accommodation is www.bnbnq.com.au - look under Tableland.
