Arthur's pass

In an earlier post some mentioned a cottage in Arthur's pass. Now I can not find it. Can someone help me?

Thanks!

Is this it?

Thanks, Melnq8. But I though that it was a cottage for 2 (maybe I misread) or should we splurge and stay at the Wilderness Lodge?

Thank you so much, but this is not what I remember. Here is the question, my husband [mArron] and I want to spend a Friday and maybe a Sat. night in Arthur's Pass. We want to stay at a place where we can hike without driving. Is the Wilderness Lodge the best place for us or do you have other ideas? Again, thank you. My husband got busy, so I am doing the postings. All help is greatly appreciated. We are working on redoing our plans.

Mountain House cottages in the link posted by Melnq8 are wonderful.

The cottages have four separate lockable bedrooms, sitting room with wood stove, kitchen, share bathrooms, parking, laundry available, but you can rent an entire house if you wish.

I stayed there for a few nights on my last trip. If you have any questions, I can help. Also the manager (if she's there) is very helpful if you call them.

The top three pictures on this review are mine:

The food at Wobbly Kea in Arthur's Pass Village is quite good, although they close early.

If you scroll down in the link Melnq8 provided you'll find some info about the trampers shuttle provided by Mountain House.

It's a bit confusing because the complex includes two hostel buildings and the separate cottages.

You might want to call or email if interested in making a booking for an entire cottage. I'm not sure if that option is bookable online.

I don't know the following place, but apparently it is also a cottage

Geez, I had no idea there were so many places to stay in Arthur's Pass. I'm thinking we'll need to spend some time there on our next visit.

Thank you all so much! I have sent e-mails to check availability. Since you have been so helpful, any favorite places to stay in Dunedin or Nelson?

Thanks.

I don't have any personal recommendations for Nelson or Dunedin, but here are some accommodation sites that might help:

We stayed at Hulmes B&B in Dunedin.

I recommend it, provided you get the right room. ((*))

I also use Hulmes Court B&B(pronounced Hyumes). I think Jed stayed in Hulmes II which has larger rooms that were more recently converted to lodging. It has street parking (and a parking lot that is somewhat sketchy to use since it's down a steep driveway), very convenient to the Octagon, center of town, and has some nice free amenities.. good high speed internet, video library and great library of natural history, geography, etc of NZ, and free laundry. Good breakfast. They do have cats there if you have allergies.

If you're mostly going to the Otago Peninsula, you should look for something closer.
