Are your sharks especially stroppy this time of year?

And why do they keep munching on tourists?

I thought only one was a tourist.

And for a bit of perspective, tell me in which of your cities have fewer than three people died violent deaths in the last three months?

Bokhara2 Oct 27th, 2011 07:02 PM

I suppose they like a change of diet occasionally.

RickPorgera Oct 28th, 2011 01:13 AM

Apparently they're not that keen on ALL tourists. Like any flesh eating mammals, they are reluctant to take the time to extensively have to clean their food first, ergo, they don't like Poms.

Yanks, however, normally have a bit of a tub before they enter the water, so cleanliness amongst their potential victims is not a priority for our noahs up this way.

Basically, if you're an American, try not to bathe for few days before you enter the ocean over this way (the sharks will assume that you're a Pom, and thus steer clear)...for Poms, have a clean up on the morning before you head into the surf. The sharks will assume you're a yank, and therefore fairly unpalatable anyhow.

Just a thought,

Cheers,

Yep, the sharks have been rather vicious as of late here in WA. Last year was a rough year too as I recall. And at popular spots - Cottesloe is one of Perth's best swimming beaches and Rottnest is at the top of most visitor's Must Do list. I predict Singaporeans fleeing in droves.

I reckon the Queen won't be jumping in the pond while she's here this weekend.

Thanks for that, Mel....I just got a mental image of H.M. heading down to the beach in her 'kini.

Nothing a few shots of Bundy can't fix, however.

Thank God.

Whatever the swimmers, she no doubt has a matching hat.

Also lots of attacks in the Red Sea this year not jusr Oz

But worldwide shark attacks are down this year

Humans not a menu item for sharks too bony

usually a culinary drive-by that goes astray

Shark attacks territorial or feeding misshaps usually

Humans in black especially look like big fat seals

Just smear yourself all over with vegemite like locals do.

No shark will touch you...

eliztravels Oct 28th, 2011 06:22 AM

I understood that local sharks love vegemite; it's only the wary foreign ones that are deterred.

Adzo_123 Oct 28th, 2011 07:26 AM

They just want some publicity. They are sick of the wales getting it all "save the wales, see the wales." If this fails they will start beaching themselves next.

@ Adzo_123

Good one mate. Trez amusing.

Cheers.

Any preference, fat vs. lean?
Oh, just asking, that's all...

"Are your sharks especially stroppy this time of year"
If you look at man V sharks then man must be the worse of the two 'cause if you consider that NYC including Queens, Statten Island etc is roughly the polulation of Australia then in NYC you are about 20 times more likely to be murdered than eaten by a shark in Australia, whether you are fat or not.
Perhaps you should visit Australia mlqb and then you could really get some good stats with which to bore us with.

Go swimming with a friend - preferably a disabled one. Then you only have to be able to swim faster than him! :P
