Are washcloths provided?

For most countries that I have visited, I have taken my own washcloths because none were provided by the hotels. What is the policy on this in Australia and New Zealand?

Thanks!

Can't speak for NZ, but most Australian hotels & motels do. Some small motels & hotels may not.

During our three week trip to NZ last month, washcloths were provided in about 50% of our accommodation. We stayed in a variety of places, ranging from motels to B&Bs to self-contained cottages. There is no hard and fast rule. Some provide them, some don't. I find the same to be true in Australia, but I don't generally stay in hotels, as I prefer cottages, chalets, etc.

All B&B's I know of in Australia do, despite that they are often used for cleaning shoes, wiping off lipstick, foundation and mascara. Please use the Kleenexes provided for this, these sort of stains are hard to remove

Pat -

Your response reminded me of how surprised (and appreciative) I was to find a rag provided in a motel a few years back. A really good idea.

I don't use washcloths other than as extra mini handtowels, but as a hiker, cleaning our hiking boots before getting on a plane to head home always presents a problem. We invariably end up asking to use the water faucet in the owner's backyard or their laundry room tub or something, but providing a rag would be a huge help.

Some do and some don't but I always like to take my own regardless of where I stay. Guess it's a habit I can't break.
Ineresting question though. I even take a small tea towel if I want to do my own breakfast, you could say I'm fully self contained and also only take one small wheelie bag as I can't manage anymore afer a shoulder injury. Have fun.
