Apartments in Sydney and Surfer's Paradise

My wife, my two kids (16 and 12) and myself will be in Sydney/Gold Coast for 10 days in Dec 06, although I haven't decided in which order we'll be visiting the two places. We are looking for reasonably priced (3-stars) 2-bedroom apartments instead of hotel rooms. Any good site or chain recommendations?

Check out The Waldorf in Sydney (Darling Harbor) - search this forum and you'll find comments.

In Surfer's paradise, we stayed at the Chateau Beachside <http://www.strand.com.au> but would opt for the Grosvenor Beachfront Apartments instead. They are a little newer and better maintained. Same great location and only 1/2 block apart.

The manager told me that you would get a better deal if you called her directly to book rather than go through wotif.com.au

i'd suggest you get moving on booking - if it's xmas holidays you'll find it is already starting to get tight for accomm, particularly at the gold coast (i know, I'm looking myself)

I stayed at breakfree peninsula about 12 months ago and it was excellent. we had a 2br apartment, which was nicely furnished, lovely views and close to beach and surfers itself. I know others may not be fans of the breakfree chain, but the property really was excellent. that said, we did book on wotif as it was cheaper, but you may not have that option in december.

for sydney, i've stayed at the york apartments and they were excellent.
