Any gift ideas for NZ friends?

Off on our New Zealand trip in 3 weeks time. Coming from Scotland and staying with relatives of our friends for some of the time there.
Wondering what gifts we could take them from home.
Any ideas N Z fodorites?
Any suggestions appreciated!

I would go for sweets. i.e. scottish tablet and other sweets. British sweets are quite different from the lollies (kiwi word for sweets) we have in NZ.

British sweets are great but your crisps (chips to us kiwis) are rubbish. I can say this after having conducted significant overseas research on the matter.

not a kiwi, but an aussie - someone brought me a lovely cushion cover from isle of skye which was very nice, perhaps think of something like that? this one was like a batik style design - a similar style wall hanging would also be quite nice! sweets is a good idea, someone else had suggested cookbooks on another post. I'm a big fan of the tea-towel as well - surely you can't have too many!!

Books are very expensive in NZ due to taxes. Our friends love them as gifts.
We always leave behind those we have read while in NZ for our family.
