alberts and victorias bed and breakfast in potts point

a nice leafy street
a short walk ( probably longer than the adverstised 10 minutes) to the sights round the harbour and the rooms are very pleasant

charming breakfast area in a courtyard
some rooms face onto this courtyard so ask if youd prefer a window to the outside
the room we visited had a fireplace
small room but decent sized bed
small bathroom

but if i were visiting sydney it seemed like a great place to stay
good coffee shop - 'dove' next door, a laundromat and what looked like a lovely restaurant across the road
plenty of backpacker places too
went into the blue chili
they wanted 70 dollars aud a night for a private room with shared facilities
i think the bed and breakfast was 140 a night- 25 rooms if i heard correctly

impressive building
well maintained victorian terrace
was nice to be able to see something firsthand - see what sydney has to offer our visitors

So is this kind of supporting a place you visited but did not stay long enough to check out the plumbing nor soundproofness let alone if rooms were a bit on the stuffy side when in them for a while, like overnight.
Air conditioning? or ceiling fan?

lanejohann Apr 19th, 2009 01:36 AM

it did have aircon
we were dropping friends off and they invited us in for a visit - we checked out the building in general and their room

they are elderly
and are finding the place very good for their needs especially cos they could get a room on the ground floor with only a few steps up to the front door

id stay there - it is the kind of area i like- leafy and has a bit of atmosphere
despite being near kings cross it isnt seedy - which was their fear

i havent ever been in a city bed and breakfast so it was just an opportunity i took to have a look for myself

the breakfasts served are cold - cereals, croissants and breads that you can toast with spreads, preserved fruit - included in the nightly tariff

lanejohann, that sounds like the B&B/small hotel that's usually referred to as Victoria Court Hotel - www.victoriacourt.com.au Is that right?

If so, I've spoken to many overseas tourists who've been very happy with it, and I know the location is great, nowhere near the "seedy" part of the Cross. Thanks for posting.

Pat
hmmm im not sure
it had a sign out the front - a doublesided pic of victoria - poor albert wasnt featured
it had a wrought iron fence - looked like two terrace buildings
i didnt note the street number but it was next to the Dove cafe
mustve been in victoria street - thatd make sense
