Airfare to New Zealand

I am planning on going to New Zealand to visit a few buddies either Feb. 9-24 or in April for a few weeks. What is the best way to get a reasonable plane ticket?

Any good suggestions on good two/three day hikes when I am there? Thank you so much.

Air New Zealand should have something reasonable for April.

Qantas is fantastic in coach. Video on demand, free wine, ice cream, hot chocolate. They made me a nice rum and coke, too. You can get miles with American Airlines or Continental, too, but with American, you only get 50% of the miles.
