One Night Stay Near Sydney Airport
Hello - At the end of our 3 week trip to Australia my husband & will be staying one night in Sydney before flying home (our flight is at 9pm). I am looking for a fairly decent place to stay somewhat near the airport before we leave.
I am thinking of the Novotel Sydney Brighton Beach, but some of the reviews and pictures are kinda scary looking. Although some of the reviews are positive.
Another option is the Dive Hotel in Coogee Beach.
By the time we get back to Sydney the day before our flight home we will have spent time in Sydney, Melbourne, Tasmania and the coastline between Syd & Mel. So we don't need an exciting place to stay - something clean & comfortable with some dining options nearby. Also, a late check-out option would be wonderful.
Any advice you can give would be welcome. Thank you!

Maybe have a look at the newly opened Rydges AT the International Terminal (T1). Would be extremely handy for your flight home. Nothing really in the way of eating places around there though. Just a suggestion.

Hi halfapair - I will actually be flying to Sydney on Friday and will be staying at the Novotel Brighton Beach - I will post back a little report for you.
Sorry Sydney Fodorites I'm down for work and will have no time for a GTG as I fly home Saturday afternoon.

Ha - you guys know I could never snub you - but it is a business trip I'm afraid and I'll have to be in bed early Friday night for a ridiculously early start on Saturday. Home straight after the event.
I'm going to be in Perth in November and would love a catch up with Melnq8 - not sure if that could be possible. I wonder how many WA/Perth Fodorites we have? I would have a bit more time in Perth.
This year has just flown by with barely time to catch my breath some days - but I hope all my Aussie fodorites are well and happy and maybe we can plan for a GTG next year somewhere?

Hi halfapair - I'm back after my quick trip to Sydney and I did stay at the Novotel (our event was there), on check in I was advised that I had a free upgrade to a balcony ocean view room. It comprised a sitting area with flat screen tv and a desk next was the little bar area for making tea/coffee and opposite that was the bathroom and then a separate bedroom with a very large balcony ( it was a bit grubby) that looked over the pool, and out to the ocean.
The hotel is a bit tired to be honest but the room was really quite nice by my standards. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful.
The best thing is that it is very close to the airport - a $20 cab fare - and with the beachside location it is a bit different as an 'airport' hotel. I would compare the hotel as on a par with Jupiters Casino on the Gold Coast.
Peteralan it's lovely to hear from you too and hope all is well.

Thank you, Stormbird. I have contacted the Novotel to ask if they have a late-checkout plan. Our flight doesn't leave until 9:20 at night, and we'll be traveling for nearly 24 hours to get home. So we'll need to spend a day relaxing before heading to the airport.
