Adventure Travel Tour for a 38 yr. old

Hi! I'm a single, active 38 yr old woman who's planning to visit Australia for a month next year. I'm interested in seeing Sydney, the Great Barrier Reef & the Outback with excursions like the Syd. Bridgeclimb, scuba diving, horseback riding, skydiving, bunjee jumping, kayaking etc. I've been investigating various adventure tours but I'm encountering age discrimination because I exceed the 35-38 age restrictions of these tours (I'll be 39 when I arrive), I've even inquired with the tour groups to see if there was any flexibility with their age restrictions but no go. I'm too young & adventureous for the over 50 tours. I'm a single, heterosexual woman so i'm incompatible for the Gay & Family tours. I'm traveling alone but I'm not a loner so I'd prefer the company that a tour group provides as well as security in case of an emergency but it appears I fall into a very narrow demographic that doesn't have a tour or a market. I'd appreciate any suggestions you may have because I really want to see the sites & experience as much as I can in Oz. This is a dream vacation where I finally have the time & money to spend but no tour group to join. :-(

Talk about a needle in a haystack! We have no found the only woman on this planet who does not lie about her age!
Seriously though, single28 if you tell them you are 36 how would they know differently? There are many, many tours that do not age discriminate that I am sure you will have any number of choices.
I put my husband on a bi-plane acrobatic flight for his birthday a few years ago and he is much older than you. People climb the Harbour Bridge at 75, sky-dive etc and I have never heard of anyone having to get out their birth certificate to date. Don't worry just keep surfing the net.

G'day Single38,
there are certainly tours that don't discriminate on age, but it maybe a little difficult to find a tour that includes all the activities you mention.

Just write me an email, maybe I can help you with at least some adventures.
It would however be small group tours which are not designed for the backpacker market.

Enjoy your time in Australia,
Mike.

Single38 - just where have you been looking? I can't match your post to my experience!! You won't find one tour that includes all you want to do. But you don't need to. For the activity stuff you will find loads of operators offering trips where the activity fits the area. You just book the Bridge Climb; there are operators in Vj (once you get here). For

For the activity stuff you will find loads of operators offering trips where the activity fits the area. You just book the Bridge Climb yourself; there are operators in Sydney who do day or overnight horse safaris in the Blue Mts; kayaking? - in Sydney Harbour - book it here; or sea kayaking (check out Mission Beach) again book it when you get there. The reef - just get yourself up to Cairns (easiest option) and you will be indundated with day trips for departure the next day.
For the 'outback'. That depends what you mean, but let's say you mean the 'Centre' - then a tour is a good idea. There are many companies that do tours there - accom in hostels - or, if you like, camping. Never seen mapielsun

So - are you looking in the right place?
Can I help?

hello again & sorry for multiple posts above. I found I had booked marked this site which has a huge list of tours:
http://www.travelpunk.com/tours/australia.htm

Also remembered about Explore Worldwide and was surprised to find they DO operate in Oz and they DO have a very inclusive tour. It sounds just amazing - but you need 28 days and c. 4000 AUD. www.exploreworldwide.com.

And some more:

Happy browsing and happy travels.

Thanks OzMike & Alice13 for the suggestions, I now have more options than I originally thought. Looking forward to an awesome time in Oz. :-)

I've found an adventure tour that caters for 18-45 year olds - run by Jarmbie Overland Adventures. I've not heard of them but you could do a web search. Here is the link
http://www.jarmbie.com.au/

I did a trip through Asia years ago with Explore. Most people were in their 30s, some in their 40's. They only have small groups and the tour was good. Explore are based in the UK.

Good luck and keep trying to find a tour that suits you.
Kay
