Adelaide/Port Lincoln - what else?

I will be doing a great white shark diving excursion in August which leaves from Port Lincoln. It is a 3 day trip, so I'm looking for things to do before/after the trip (spending about 2 weeks altogether in AU). I will be traveling alone (and I'm female) so I'm looking for maybe some small group tours. I would love to see some of the wine regions in the area and I consider myself pretty adventurous (hence the great white shark diving already planned). Any suggestions for reputable tour operators and/or must see attractions would be greatly appreciated. The more research I do on my own, the more overwhelmed I get!

Between Adelaide and Port Lincoln, there are two great wine regions well worth visiting - the Clare Valley and the Barossa Valley. Even if you are not a wine person, the countryside and small towns are good spots to visit. North of Clare is the Flinders Ranges which are spectacular at any time of the year but particularly so in early spring.

Hi. Have you seen this website? It is the official government tourism website. It has a section on tours. If you go to the Regions section you can look up info on various areas around the state.

http://www.southaustralia.com/Tours.aspx

I haven't taken any tours as I live locally. Popular tours are usually of the Barossa Valley, the Adelaide Hills or Kangaroo Island.

Did you know that Port Lincoln has more millionaires per capita than anywhere else in Australia? Mostly to do with tuna fishing I believe.

girls, how are you travelling to Port Lincoln because it is a long way from Adelaide, also where else in Australia are you hoping to visit as time is restricted if you only have two weeks. If you are flying into Adelaide and have a few days there then there are bus tours to the Barossa from Adelaide. Port Lincoln is still a good 6 hour drive from the Barossa region. (8 hours from Adelaide).

I saw one of these tours on a local travel television show recently. It looks a bit scary. They put bait in the water to attract the sharks. Getting into the shark cage looks a bit perilous and not much room for error. The cage also has a reasonable size gap in it where you are told to keep your hands within the cage.

Yeah. Melbourne is closer to Adelaide than Port Lincoln, so I hope you're flying. It's a long drive.

Kangaroo Island would possibly appeal to you, as you seem to like the outdoor life. That would take care to at least two days, possibly three.
