Accommodation in Bellingen or surrounds - any tips?

Hello all,

In overdrive mode here. Sorry if it's getting repetitive!

Anyone know of an ‘interesting’ place to stay in the Bellinger Valley? I’m looking for a B&B or pub or old-fashioned hostelry of some kind. Budget is under $200aud for a twin room; preferably nearer $100-150. Of course less would be good. Bellingen itself appeals. What’s Urunga like? Failing somewhere with character, would be interested in any recommendations people may have.

Cheers.

Urunga is a quiet beach town with an attractive estuary for non surf swimming as well as a nice surf beach which requires a bit of a walk.Small place, not lots happening, old style pub near water. Trying to rake up the name of accommodation I stayed in and enjoyed oncein Bellingen. Cabin type accommodation with deck and lovely dense vegatation and birdlife. Will add another post if I find it...an aboriginal sounding name. Bellingen is more interesting in my opinion. Nice shops, restaurants and at least one pub with music. Somewhat alternative town.Try to be there for the very popular Bellingen markets.Be aware that Bellingen is small too.

In that general vicinity I've stayed at Hat Head a couple of times (it's near Crescent Head beach). The national park there is beautiful, and it's a good place for kangaroo, wallaby and dolphin sightings.

I rented a small flat-like holiday house on one occasion through the local real estate agent, it was basic but fine. The bowlo does good club-style food, other than that there's a general store.

Thank you very much Greynomad and susan7.

GN, as it would only be for one night your cabin with deck would fit the bill perfectly. That's just the kind of thing I'm after so hope you will be able to find the details. I'll say right now that if our positions were reversed I probably couldn't, being a keeper of stuff on the journey but a bad filer/organiser of same once I get home!

Happy travels.

Found it! Koompartoo Retreat. Website www.koompartoo.com.au
You might like to check distance from and access to town restaurants etc. I remember it wasn't far but you might need to think about night time plans. Hope it works out for you. Great Saturday market is only once a month so if interested, ask accommodation owners or google.
