Abel Tasman

I can't find any place available for our stay in Abel Tasman Dec. 28-31st. Any ideas for a plan B? We have three kids and we are looking for some adventure!!

Your message doesn't really make sense. Where is Able Tasman - I thought that was the ferry from Melbourne to Tasmania? If you were booked on the ferry - surely you'd have accommodation.

Oh! It's in New Zealand.
This is a good example of how a better heading would get a better response.

There are many places to stay near Abel Tasman that are not actually in Abel Tasman. The town of Takaka is a short distance from Totaranui, which is the start of the Abel Tasman Track. We spent three wonderful nights at a cottage called Ashlea Downs - it's a fully self-contained cottage with two (or three) bedrooms, kitchen, etc.

Another option is Marahau, which is considered the gateway to Abel Tasman, and may be where you've already looked. Then there's Kaiteriteri, which is very close to Marahau, and located along a gorgeous beach. There are many B&B's in the vicinity.

You might also want to look into lodging options in Pohara, which is very near Totaranui or Motueka. There are oodles of B&B's and self contained cottages near Motueka, Tasman (the town) and along Ruby Bay. If all else fails, there's always Collingwood or Nelson.

Thanks, you have really helped me out. I will look into these other options.
Cheers!!
