6-month accomodations in Sydney
Where could we find a nice furnished apartment in the Sydney area for $250-300 AUD per week? We have the potential of being temporarily relocated from the US for 6 months. Which suburbs/areas would you recommend? Safety and accessibility to transport/shopping are priorities. At the very least, please recommend 'areas' we should search in. Thank you.

Sydney is very expensive for housing. $250 - $300 a week doesn't get you much in a furnished apartment. Basically the closer to the city or ocean you are, the more expensive it will be. The eastern suburbs and lower north shore are you're best options but will be pricey. How close do you need to be to the CBD?

Thank you for the response Matt. I misstated the price range earlier, as we are seeking something for $250-300 USD per week. We would prefer to be within a 20 minute bus ride of the CBD if possible. Another acquaintance mentioned Mosman and Neutral Bay as options? Your thoughts?

Hi, Julie!

As long as you are willing to sign a six-month contract, you shouldn't have too much trouble finding a really nice apartment in a good suburb for that price. But, before I overstep myself, it might be useful to know exactly what you had in mind. How many is "we"? Do you want one-bedroom, two-bedroom, or more? Will you travel by car or public transport? Do you want a water view? If Iknow exactly what you want, maybe I can direct you to the right agent for your needs.

Thanks for your response Alan. 'We' consists of my husband and I. We were thinking that a one bedroom (furnished of course) would suffice for our stay. My husband will be travelling by car but I will be relying on the public transportation system. A water view would be nice if it is within our price range. If you could recommend any placement agencies for me to contact, it would be appreciated.

Hi, again, Julie. Yes, I can put you in touch with a couple of agents who will be able to look after you without any trouble. There is a delighful (and not too well-known)suburb in Sydney called Hunter's Hill, which is full of hundred-year-old houses now split up into interesting units; many have water views, and the surrounding streets are so peaceful and elegant! Best of all, if you are working in the city, you simply hop on a ferry and avoid all the traffic lights, fumes, and crowds. It's the closes thing you will find to living in Sydney in the nineteenth century. Maybe you would like to contact me by email rather than on this forum and we can talk more. By the way, when are you planning to arrive?Regards, Alan. ([email protected])
