Where will you be flying into? Sydney?
I would recommend the follwing places to be included:

- Sydney & Blue Mountains (5 days)
- Brisbane/Gold Coast/Sunshine Coast (3 days)
- Tropical North Queensland around Cairns & Port Douglas (5-6 days)
- Central Australia (3-4 days)
- Melbourne & Great Ocean Road (3 days)

It really depends on what you are interested in. If you are more interested in the natural wonders, I would cut down on the cities and spend more time in rural areas and the outback, if you prefer to see cities, maybe include Adelaide or Canberra.
I would not put too much into a 20 day trip. You will not be able to enjoy the real beauty of this country and you will rush from one hotel to another. Remember that the travel day is mostly a lost day.

If this is your first visit to Australia then this is what I would do:
5 Days in and around Sydney
Fly to Cairns and spend about 7 days seeing the reef and the hinterland, going to the Lava Tubes and perhaps a boat trip through the islands. There is a particularly good one which goes from Cairns to Townsville can goes to all the little reefs and coral cays.
Fly back to Sydney and then fly to Tasmania for approximately 7 days seeing the historical places the beautiful scenic World Heritage areas and getting to know our friendly wildlife. On the way back to Sydney you can stop in at Melbourne and do whatever Melbourne people do in that city - I can never find anything much myself but I personally don't like the place and I have never been able to see what the attraction is about the Great Ocean Road trip in comparison to so many other great sea-view drives in Australia ( now I will get flack from just about everyone from that area but I don't see it as an International destination). Alternatively you could go to Canberra and see our Capital which is very different from other cities in Australia.
That is what I would do with 20 days and it would give you some really nice contrasts as well.

Looks like my post pointing out that this is an obvious troll got pulled - as did "sarvoloser's" odd response. The screen name, a play on our regular poster "Sarvowinner", is a dead giveaway. Still, the responses may help someone else.
