RalphR....don't you get a feeling of deja vu about australiaone's writing style and opinions?

Really Ralph and JohnJ. I presume you are talking about me but why would I not write under my own ID? You may play that game but I don't see any reason to.
Had it every occurred to either of you that perhaps there are others who don't agree with your ideas?

Firstly Ralph NO-ONE would ever say that they lived in " Bundaberg, near Gympie ". Bundaberg is a good two hours from Gympie if not more and I cannot think that anyone would say "I live in Philadelphia ( near Atlantic City) or I live in Connecticut ( near Harlem) the latter two being much closer to each other than Bundaberg is to Gympie.
Secondly - and your point is???????? Are you saying that it is strange that there are two Queenslanders writing on this forum or are you saying that perhaps there are two people writing on this forum that lived two hours apart? I cannot see the connection actually but is not JohnJ an American - perhaps that has about the same wow factor as does whatever you are trying to say.
As for Hamilton and the 4 little convict houses there - THEY ARE SPECTACULAR IN THEMSELVES AND ARE SEEN BY JUST ABOUT EVERYBODY WHO GOES THROUGH HAMILTON - so big deal! Again may I ask - and your point is? Finally perhaps you should just stick to growing up.

Thank you for your replies everyone! Obviously each is entitled to his own opinions and I'm grateful for the different views. I'm aware that our time in each region won't do justice to what the places have to offer and we'll be doing quite a bit of flying, but this first trip out here is meant to be more of an overview. We definitely wanted to include Uluru since it's best experienced during your winters. And we were set on Fraser Island, cause of raving reviews from a good friend who was there last August. I'm hoping that my next visit to Australia will be in spring or summer when I can spend more time in the water and getting familiar with only one or two regions. I will keep Hinchinbrook on my list for the next trip out there as well as some of the other places you mentioned!

And kaneda, I wouldn't call Uluru just a "lump of rock." Though I haven't seen it yet, I'm sure there's a very good reason why it's mentioned in all Aussie travel guides as one of the top places to visit.
