1st trip to New Zealand
 

Thinking of planning a trip to New Zealand - North Island. Will be travelling from Australia, have no idea what places to visit. Planning on staying for a week. Maybe can hire a car. Husband is a car fanatic, so should enjoy driving. Can anyone suggest an itinerary or places which a must to see.

Why North Island? With just a week, South Island would be my pick.

Definitely rent a car so you have the freedom to stop when you like.

The North Island is fantastic and quite diverse you can see most of it in a week. We love the North Island.
