10 day sailing French Polynesia on a budget

This year we were able to fulfill one of our life dreams: sailing the paradise islands of the South Pacific!
And we were able to do it on a budget: backpacking when in land, and renting a catamaran with some friends to sail ourselves.
Over 10 days, we visited Tahiti, Moorea, Huahine, Tahaa, Raiatea and Bora Bora. We hiked to waterfalls, relaxed in pristine beaches, snorkeled in turquoise lagoons, watched Heiva dancers and dove with sharks.

Thanks, Carmen Bona. This is a great report.We are doing the same sail in 3 weeks. It looks so beautiful. Where did you rent the car in Tahiti? What did it cost? Any tips on things we must bring? Any suggestions on anything at all? I can't wait.
