Thanks for the link. I learned so much about tea when I was in Sri Lanka, I'd love to visit the tea areas of Yunnan!

Thanks for posting this interesting article! The people at the Hong Kong Tea Museum know of others in Hong Kong that sell genuine types of Chinese tea. I got some pu'er tea from them and they told me that genuine pu'er can be so valuable, people would buy houses and pay with "wheels" of pu'er tea. Thanks again! :) |
That's why you don't go into a teahouse with some young girl from Tiananmen Square who wants to learn English from you.
They can literally charge you any amount they want to. It's like ordering wine. You need to check the price first. |
The article reminded me of the discs of Pu'er that I saw for the first time in the shops of Malian Dao in Beijing...
I really do want to visit Yunnan.. |
Puier tea is stronger and smokier than regular green or black tea, buy a little and taste it first before buying larger quantities.
|
Thanks, S!! I don't remember ever trying it and now I wish I had. How is that word pronounced in English?
|
My maternal grandpa drank pu'er literally everyday of his life. But I'm more a green/white tea kind of person.
These days, more people drink pu'er with chrysanthemum. That "neutralizes" pu'er a bit, and makes it easier to drink. |
EK -- It is pronounced "poo er" and roll the "r". Go to Chinatown and see if you can buy a little bit to taste for yourself. Personally I prefer green tea.
|
Thanks, S. I will try to find some in a shop down there..
By the way, tomorrow night I am having a Shanghai dinner in Chinatown!! |
Which restaurant?
|
New Yeah Shanghai Deluxe (I've never been).
S. DId I mention that I had a wonderful Shanghai dinner at a place named Shanghai Tide in Flushing a few weeks ago?? (135-20 40th Road) |
I believe it's where DS and I went when we were in Chinatown for lunch, 65 Bayard Street. Very good food, ask them to translate the dishes written in chinese papered on the wall, we loved the clams in steamed egg, fish fillet in wine sauce and pea sprouts sauted with garlic.
I've never been to Flushing but heard there is a large chinese population. |
