Yau Ma Tei: Hong Kong

I will be staying at the Mayfair Garden hotel, it was the cheapest one I can find. They tell me that they are located in Yau Ma Tei, next to the Jordan MTR.

Am I in a good central location? If not, please tell me how I can get back to the central area, with all the shops and markets. I assume we are ok, since it is close to a MTR station, but just needed some expert opinions!

Thank you!

The street it is on is kind of quiet, and it faces one of the best all-girl's highschool in Hong Kong. But just cross the busy Nathan Road, and there are tonnes of shops and restaurants, as well as the Temple Street night market. And yes, it's just steps from the MTR entrance.

Many buses on Nathan Road to bring you down to Tsimshatsui and Star Ferry, or up to Mongkok. And of course you can take the MTR. There are also cross-tunnel buses to bring to Hong Kong Island if you get tired to riding the MTR.

Just want to add that if you're arriving by plane, there's the Cityflyer A22 bus that has a stop right around the corner from the Mayfair Garden. It's cheap (HK$39 or about US$5) and very fast.

Just looked it up. Says the hotel is under renovation...might be quite noisy.

chinovice - Where did you find that info?

But I don't think anybody will be spending much time in their room or in the hotel. Most 3* hotels have really tiny rooms in Hong Kong, and renovations will only be during the day.
