Yangtze River Cruise Up or Down?

Would anyone recommend taking the cruise upstream over downstream? Planning on China trip for May 07. any input would be appreciated. thanks BC

We took the cruise downstream from Chongqing to Yichang because it was quicker. There's no reason I can think of for taking more time on the boat, since there's so much else to see in China. For more info see:

The scenery moves a little more slowly when you're going upstream, and if you have plenty of time for your whole journey, then it's not a bad way to rest a little.

We went upstream and felt that we wasted a day that could have been spent seeing more of China.

Downstream. We took the cruise from Chongqing to Wuhan about 5 years ago and it got a little boring towards the end.
