Yangtze overbooking/cruise changes?

Has anyone who has booked a Yangtze River cruise this fall had any notification about itinerary or ship changes? I understand at least some of the cruise ships are overbooked and are shunting people around, boarding at Fengdu instead of Chongqing, spending unscheduled nights in Wuhan, etc. Does anyone have first-hand word? Thanks.

Are you booked on a tour? When?
The changing of schedule on the yangtze might have been because of the recent floods and strong river currents.
Where did you get the information concerning overbooking? Was a tour co. involved?

I've been reading other message boards where there have been a couple of notes that people have been told their Victoria bookings have been changed to either different (read: worse) boats or different routings. These did also involve tour companies but the tour companies were not a part of the problem, it was the overbooking on the cruise ship. This has no relation to the recent flooding which has also caused its own set of schedule changes, but which may be viewed as an Act of God and not an Act of Greed, better known as deliberate overbooking. This fall is particularly bad because they're going to start raising the water level west of the Dam in June.

Yes, I'll be going on the Yangtze and haven't heard anything about my own situation yet, so I was just wondering how rampant the problems are. It's pretty common for there to be changes with Victoria; maybe you saw some of the comments last year about the infamous "Dolphin" substitution.

I'd still like to hear if anyone has been informed about this potential problem and then, on your return, if it happened to you. Thanks a lot.

My parents had booked and paid for a Victoria cruise earlier this year for a July departure thru a local travel agency in Chongqing. They later discovered (prior to departure) that Victoria had no record of their reservation. So it may be best to check directly with the cruise line to verify your booking. When they contacted the travel agency, the agency tried to offer to book them on another vessel which they didn't accept. In the end, American Express intervened and obtained a refund from the agency.
