I paid just under $1300 for ORD to BKK for April/May and was HAPPY at that rate. Flights used to be closer to $900 or less... times, and prices, have changed.

It's hard to predict prices. I note that the price for my ticket, as noted above, was $10 higher a couple of days ago.

My crystal ball is a bit foggy when it comes to the fluctuations in air ticket prices. My rule is that when the price looks good, I buy, I don't worry about whether it might go lower. I would consider that a very good price.

This is a good price. Go ahead and book. It might go a smidge lower, but it's more likely to rise.

That sounds like a good price. We bought our tickets for April when they went just under $1,100. We haven't seen a better fare in months from our airport, unless we wanted to make 2 stops. So, that price sounds good for June!

$1100 is a very good price from BOS/NRT and is the price I originally told you in your first post was a good goal price.

The question is

"How happy are you with this price?"

Patience and persistence have gotten you this far.....You still have a lot of time before your trip and the April 1st fuel adjustments by the Asian carriers haven't come into play yet, lol

Just a little more to confuse you, lol

Aloha!

I hate posting so much when I know I keep asking the same question but I wanted to someone to tell me that it will go lower. No one expects that or even thinks it's possible, as low season ticket go for around $1000-1100 (from the East Coast at least).

HT - thank you for being so patient with me - I have been reading all your posts and guess what?! We were in Japan last year at the same time and in some of the same places!! Sakurajima and Miyajima - we were there at the same time.
Honestly, we were hoping to use a Japanese carrier this time, as we hear they are awesome, but we just found the following ticket on American:

Boston to Tokyo June 24
Osaka to Boston July 8

Price per ticket $1150, all taxes included.

We bought it. I don't think we will get our dates and times for less; plus, this ticket allows us to fly into Tokyo, explore Tokyo, get a one week rail pass and head up to Hokkaido and back down to Kansai, where we will spend the last five days of the trip with our friends and then leave directly from Osaka instead of backtracking back to Tokyo.

We have flown American to Japan before and the experience was fine. We earn miles on American and find them very easy to redeem tickets (I am going to Spain, for free, in April and over the years I've gotten tickets to Peru, Mexico (2 tkts), California (2 tkts), Paris, Japan (2 tkts), so it just makes sense as this trip will get me another free ticket somewhere else. I can't earn AA miles on JAL because the US-Tokyo flights don't qualify.

We understand that it's rainy season but Hokkaido will be OK plus my friend says she prefers rainy season because it's not so hot, not too crowded, and some years there's no rain at all!!

puttaka,

Congratulations! That's a great price for an open jaw flight. Now you don't have to backtrack to Tokyo and can spend more time where you want to.

Funny about being in Japan at the same time last yr....you never know, lol

Well now the real planning begins. Have fun!

Aloha!
